Brief Summary :
In a typical Bollywood movie, the hero is
shown as a typical typical "man", with love interest, jealous lover,
fight, oaths, etc.... But in "KARTHIK" this
concept is changed, presented with a full different & special
approach. It is here, where the hero of the movie is shown as a full
grown woman. Hence the movie can be considered as a transformation of
gender.
The movie starts with a shot of a dark
grey-ish image of a city. Then we go to a street with men carrying
heavy wooden logs. The hero is seen walking with a man on the same
street, observing with a bored attitude. She keeps on looking at the
logs, which she holds in her hand. Then we come to a dark lane, in the
heart of the city, where a huge thick stone, shaped like a human
figure, appears. It turns out to be the lovers' tomb. The male actor
enters the tomb with a lighter stone. He climbs up the ladder of the
tomb. When he comes back down, the lady gets angry, shouts at him,
accusing him of being jealous. He jumps down. But the lady's mother
tries to bring her back inside. The son assures her that he will not
leave her until the end of the movie.
The place is shown as a bazaar, where
men are selling things. The city streets are shown as a full hell,
where people are crying, begging for alms. The mother enters a room,
where the lovers are sitting. She asks for alms. The father is an
exhausted man, who has gone to work, leaving her alone. She then gets
angry, and leaves, yelling at the father. They both watch her going
away. The lover sits down in the gutter, covered with filth. He seems
to have spent a sleepless night. They are both worn out.
The lover then takes her to a river and
they bathe in it. They spend a night together. The father comes in
search of them. The lovers agree to meet in a month's time, 01e38acffe
